Lillie Park, Ann Arbor – Outdoor Maternity Portraits – Mariah
For her outdoor maternity portraits, Mariah and I decided to meet up at the beautiful Lillie Park in Ann Arbor. Although I am primarily a Jackson, Michigan photographer, I sometimes travel to meet clients in the Ann Arbor area. Having grown up near Ann Arbor, I’m very familiar with the city. It’s a bonus that Ann Arbor has a variety of stunning locations, such as Lillie Park, to take beautiful photographs at.
Lillie Park was a wonderful setting for an outdoor maternity portrait session. Despite being right near a main road (and the expressway!), the park felt private and secluded. Between the abundance of plants and the small lake in the park, it was perfect.
This outdoor maternity portrait session took place in the fall and anybody from Michigan knows that it’s beautiful outdoors here in the fall. When planning her portrait session, I was hopeful that the weather would cooperate and we would get some wonderful autumn images. Although it was still greener outside than I was hoping, I love how the images turned out.
Mariah already had two daughters, but this was her first maternity portrait session. I was very excited to hear I had the honor of capturing her maternity session. It was even more special when I found out that she was pregnant with her first boy. Outdoor maternity portraits were the perfect option for Mariah as one day her son will be running through the fields of this very same park.
For Mariah’s portraits, I brought two different maternity gowns for her to try out. She wore a beautiful long sleeved burgundy dress for most of the session. Near the end of the session, she switched into a short lacy gown for a few photos. I almost didn’t bring the lace gown as it seems more summery, but I am glad I did. I really love how both of the dresses looked, although they were very different from one another. I’m so happy to offer an ever-growing gown collection to my maternity clients.
